We've developed the assessments using a rigorous process, but it's the local proctors who ensure the integrity of each assessment administered.

A certified proctor must be onsite before assessments can be taken by your students.  Please remember that the proctor must be someone other than the instructor. It's simple to become a proctor! Just click here to review instructions designed to help maintain confidentiality, prevent cheating, and ensure proper identification, along with a script to read at the beginning of each assessment.

Helpful tips and additional guidelines for instructors and proctors are available here.

The first eight Skill Connect Assessments are available for purchase. Each assessment costs $20, and SkillsUSA members pay only $5. (Not surprisingly, in our first month of sales, the majority were sold at the member price. Click here to learn how you can become a member.)

In their first month of availability, nearly 1,100 Skill Connect Assessments have been sold. Most popular are the Employability Skills Assessment, Welding, Cosmetology and Advertising Design, but all eight are being used. That means students are finding the Way Ahead with our innovative, online assessments.

SkillsUSA is receiving a lot of interest in the assessments from the state level as well as classroom instructors. As a matter of fact, I'm on my way to Minnesota to speak to more than 85 CTE Directors and school administrators. Data collection and assessments continue to be hot topics in Washington under the Obama administration and the new Congress as well.

Eight assessments are currently available, with three more expected to release in May. Additionally, SkillsUSA has partnered with ASE, NATEF and AYES to provide three automotive assessments.

As the school year nears its end, we hope you'll find our Skill Connect Assessments to be a valuable end-of-program assessment for your students and your program. Be sure to read the tips included in this newsletter, and let us know how we can answer additional questions. We hope you'll join the more than 40 instructors who have already introduced Skill Connect Assessments to their students as they become champions at work.
