The CNC Milling & Turning assessment is now available to field test. The online, technical assessment evaluates a student’s understanding in conformity and dimensions necessary for a career in CNC Milling & Turning.

Field testing provides you and your students the opportunity to experience a sneak peek of the assessment at no cost to you. Each Skill Connect Assessment is customized by industry experts and used by students across the country to serve as an onramp to industry certifications.

By field testing an assessment, you get a sneak peek at the type of questions and competencies tested in each technical area. Review the list below to see if your area is ready for field-testing, and then register online to be a field test site. Field testing is free to you and is a great way for you to preview the Work Force Ready System and the Skill Connect Assessments. The sooner field testing is complete, the sooner these assessments will be available for your classrooms. As you can see, field testing is nearly complete in some technical areas, but we still need your help!

Nearly 10 Technical Advisory Committee members gathered at the NPES offices in Reston, Virginia, to provide guidance for Champions for Change and the Work Force Ready System. This group of influential leaders meets three times each year to share ideas and feedback with the Work Force Ready System development team. Our next meeting will be in March 2010 in the Washington, D.C., area.

SkillsUSA has long relied on industry partnerships to prepare champions for work. Our Skill Connect Assessments are no different. First, our process is built on the expertise of our industry partners, who have volunteered countless hours to define the relevant competencies and develop rigorous questions.

We’ve also formed industry partnerships to deliver assessments. Just as we have partnered with ASE in developing automotive assessments, we recently formed partnerships with GAERF (Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation) and NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) to complete the Skill Connect Assessments for these technical areas. We appreciate our industry partnerships and will continue to ensure you are first to know when these new assessments are available.

We currently have 11 assessments available in classrooms, and have had many instructors use them as pre-assessments this fall. Please visit our website to review the list of assessments, purchase assessments, sign up as a field-test site or register as a proctor. If you have additional feedback to share about how we can improve the assessments, or would like to share a testimonial for our marketing materials, please e-mail us.
